Why subscribe?
You get a lot of email. You should only subscribe to this one if what I’m writing resonates with you.
I write about food and feelings. Cooking is a symbolic act for me.
It’s an embodiment of a feeling, what I’m summoning for myself and offering to the people I am feeding physically and virtually. This has become the form of what I’m creating right now – recipes as feelings. Over time, I’ll write about other topics too, like work (something I know a lot about), parenting (for me, much harder than paid work), home and community. The intent of offering these stories and recipes is to reflect on the transformation I am experiencing and share my process with people who are open to receiving it.
Think of this newsletter like a dinner party, or maybe a supper club you attend regularly, maybe a few times a month. I’m not requesting any monetary resources, but I do request some participation. Your presence, above all. Your conversation. Maybe the occasional introduction or invitation. Something magical you’ve made or found. I don’t know how this works virtually, but we’ll figure it out together.
I expect the format to change over time with input from participants and as my own context changes. I promise a high signal-to-noise ratio — I am not going to write unless I have something genuine to say, so I’ll err on the side of being less frequent and more meaningful. If what you receive doesn’t bring you joy, or spark some other worthwhile feeling, please unsubscribe.
